birthday fun

So, I'm terrible at b-day stuff. Not as bad as my dad, but I'm certainly a disappointment compared to my mom. She produces small off-Broadway musicals for each family member on their big day. But since my sister Dona and brother Grant share the same b-day (with a six year age difference) it's easy to remember.

Look how nice they were to me. They both really are some of my favorite people and they have always been so good to me. But for the few times they weren't so nice to me, I've decided for their birthdays, to forgive them. Dona I forgive you for shaving the sides of my head when I already an extremely awkward looking 2nd grader. Grant I forgive you for repeatedly fracturing my ribs when you thought you were just tickling me. Anyway, I hope you both have a great day! I love you!

And since Grant is soooo old today, he gets an extra birthday treat. About a month ago when I was in Utah I got to run a 1/2 marathon, mostly behind my speedy, 17 years-older-than-me, brother.

If Grants looks more energetic then me that is because he waited and rested for 25 minutes before jumping back in at the finish line to run with me for our photo opt.

So my second birthday treat to you Grant is an admission that...even at your age, you are faster than me...putting all my geriatic intestinal issues aside.

Hiking around outside of Bryce Canyon after the race. Look at those cool purple shades, you are so John Lennon. Peace brother.

happy birthday!

To clarify, I did not shave the sides of your head. I was cutting your hair and it was coming along quite nicely but you have a weird hairline. I don't know what to tell you. I noticed that I'm still not forgiven for the hairbrushing trauma. And just for genealogical purposes, Grant and I are 5 years apart, not 6 which means that Mom had 4 of us in 5 years...)Thanks for the birthday wishes.

i have your sunglasses (the ones you're wearing in that last pic) at my house.... found them in the back seat of the civic the other day and was wondering who the chick was that joe had been backseating with in the blue beast (such a turn on).

I guess I'll have to get up and run in the morning so I can do another half with you next year - I don't think this old body is ready for a real marathon. Thanks for sharing the old pics and the birthday wishes.

I love the pics!
I love the way you blog some of our family history!
As I view the blog and respond I'm listening to some gentle guitar music that is contributing even more to the tender feelings of being reminded vividly and visually of good family times we've all had because your older siblings enjoy their "little sister" (that includes Gerry, too) It helps that you reciptocate and also that you try to forgive the other stuff ! a good way to celebrate two important birthdays -
You know for sure that I celebrate !!!

I was going to call you tonight but then I realized that it is too late for me to be making calls to people I want to talk to for a while cause it will leave me up too late. Then I was going to write you an email when-for some STRANGE reason I don't have your email address!! will you please give it to me? I am going to try and get my hands on it tonight but in case I don't I will need you to tell it to me :) and maybe I will call you tomorrow if I can-i think I am going clubbing... we shall see! PS- I am going to go crazy if I don't get a tippetts update SOON

I got your skype message, after 9pm is really bad for me...because at 9 there it is 3am here. Sundays I talk to my family at 9:00 my time, which is 2 their time, or 3 your time. So 3 is a bad time because I am already booked. I will ring you once I am through talking to my fam though if its not too late for me!
