last week

Last week was a busy week

tuesday
we played in the rain

wednesday
free art class at the Dallas Museum of Art

check out the concentration

thursday
The girls ran in the Katy Trail .5K kids dash. It was a struggle. Adelle turfed it in her first two steps and took out an innocent 4 year old bystander. Tess got discouraged when all the 2nd graders passed her up. But they did finish and the event included an incredible spread of food (chocolate ice cream, cookies and pizza) that helped make the whole thing a positive experience....I hope.

the weekend
Tess had her piano awards ceremony and recital.

Tess did such a great job! It's hard to explain what I was feeling as I watched her play and thought of all the nights practicing together. She wasn't nervous at all to play. She just seemed so comfortable, calm and independent of me it was one of those moments when time catches up with you and you realize how quickly life moves.

Tess and her wonderful teacher Ms. Eva (pronounced Ava) she is Polish and has a beautiful accent

After the recital we were all feeling pretty good and off to celebrate with dinner and chocolate cake.

my big news

I ran a 1/2 marathon kinda last minute, out of peer pressure from my excellent running friend Amy. Anyway I could only keep up with her for the first 4 miles and then I was on my own slow pace the rest of the time. Somehow, even though she finished 20 whole minutes before me, we were able to place 1st and 2nd in the Clydesdale division (for those that don't know, the Clydesdale division is a distinguish rank for those that weigh 150 lbs or more) . I honestly can't tell you how shocked and excited I was when we both got our medals--I'm pretty sure I embarrassed Amy with my hoots and shrieks. In hindsight I guess it is kinda like winning the miss congeniality or most improved player award but I swear if I never win anything else in my life I will feel complete.

I LOOOVE your blog! I should put some actual pictures of my family on mine!
And I don't know why, but watching Tess play the piano made me cry like a baby.

This whole blog feels to me like its about celebrating life - playing in the rain, painting lots of red at the art museum, running and turfing it and going on to finish a race, making music that will dance in your mind forever, taking on a challenging run with an encouraging friend and even earning an unexpected award, making a "once in a lifetime" gala celebration memory for this mom who is still stunned & delighted by the awesome surprize her awesome family pulled off in such grand/awesome style!!! I love the thought of you outside playing in the rain with your kids. What blessed little girls. I also love the idea of you winning in the Clydesdale Division. Who's the wise guy that created this category and decided to name it after a horse?

Tess's piano was soooo cute! I have been through all your blog, and its wonderful looking at it! I was trying to comment on the one about grandma's party, but i couldn't find it. I am a little bit blogger-retarded. but i wanted to shout a very sarcastic thank you for putting that picture of me on there where it looks like i am grabbing my boob. i am not- just for the record... but it looks like it!! haha. i guess its better than the other one though, boob grabbing and all. haha.

Pretty imprssive Sue! The best I've managed is a 5k with y kids! Anyway, now you can't say I haven't written on your blog! And if it makes you feel any better, you are4 or 5 inches taller than me and I would be in the Clydsdale division too! Great, time to get back on my diet! See ya! Michelle
